New presidents take charge from ABMS and ABROS

Pulmonologist Dr. Pedro Rodrigues Genta is the new president of the Brazilian Association of Sleep Medicine (ABMS, in the biennium 2020-2021). The specialist has had a strong contribution to the development of ABMS, being one of the doctors to integrate the entity’s board in the previous administration and says that one of the goals of his management is to encourage young people to exercise residency in Sleep Medicine.

“The ABMS board, since the management of Dr. Fernanda Haddad, has representatives from all specialties related to sleep medicine. In this new management, we intend to strengthen Sleep Medicine through dissemination actions among health insurers and by defining the role of the doctor in our area of operation. We need to attract young talents by increasing the supply of residency vacancies in Sleep Medicine. We invite associates to contribute with suggestions”, informs Dr. Genta.

In the presidency of the Brazilian Association of Sleep Dentistry (ABROS), Dr. Rowdley Robert Rossi assumes command. “We are a recent association with great achievements that we owe to previous Boards who donated their time and dedication to ABROS. Today, with the house tidy, we need to be seen, recognized and respected by civil society, by institutions and associations in the areas of health and within the ABS itself. This has to be a commitment not only of the Board of Directors, but of all associates”, he says.

At the Brazilian Sleep Association (ABS), the neurologist, Dr. Andrea Bacelar, was re-elected president. “I am very grateful for the re-election confidence. In this management, we must intensify efforts in the certifications in Sleep Medicine, in the areas of Sleep Dentistry, Sleep Speech Therapy, Sleep Psychology, Sleep Physiotherapy and for Polysomnography Technicians. We will continue to certify new sleep labs. In addition, we will strive to win more partners for our entity. We have more work ahead and we are very excited,” says Dr. Andrea.
