The Sleep Physiotherapy area

The physiotherapist can act in the identification and treatment of several sleep disorders, both respiratory and behavioral.

In addition, it operates in the area of social education in relation to sleep and its functions, awareness of the negative impact of sleep deprivation and guidelines on the need for restful sleep for health promotion.

Purpose of the Sleep Physiotherapy Council

O Sleep Physiotherapy Council has as main objective to accredit and publicize the performance of the physiotherapist in sleep. For this, we seek to expand the education of physiotherapy in this area of action and spread knowledge.

In addition, we aim to align and disseminate the best practices of sleep physiotherapy in Brazil.

The Sleep Physiotherapy Professional

The respiratory physiotherapist, with experience in the sleep area, is the most suitable professional for the treatment with pressure therapy , besides acting in the manual titration of the treatment pressure and in the reading of the records polysomnographic .

The non-pharmacological treatment of insomnia, movement disorders and circadian rhythm disorders are also other activities of the physiotherapist in the sleep area.

In general, the physiotherapist who works in the treatment of respiratory sleep disorders must have his / her training in respiratory physiotherapy and deep and updated knowledge in the area of sleep.

Professionals who work in the treatment of other sleep disorders, such as movement disorders and sleep ergonomics, must also have an in-depth scientific knowledge base in the area of sleep.

Daiana Moreira Mortari – Physiotherapist (Crefito 123747 – F / RS), Master in Pneumological Sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, works at Labsono Diagnóstico e Soluções em Sono and is part of the Brazilian Training Team of Fisher & Paykel HealthCare.

Juliana Arcanjo Lino – Physiotherapist (CREFITO 68388 / CE), PhD in Medical Sciences at UFC, Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pneumofunctional Physiotherapy at UNIFOR, with an area of expertise in the treatment of patients with Sleep Respiratory Disorders using positive pressure therapy.

Moara Gomes da Rocha Cruz – Physiotherapist (Crefito 91773-F / SE), Postgraduate in Sleep at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein / SP, Trained in Sleep Medicine at Instituto do Sono / SP, Polysomnography analyst at NICS / SP, owner of ResSono, working in the treatment of sleep disorders, adaptation and follow-up of patients to positive pressure therapy.
