Meet the Brazilian Sleep Association
Founded in August 1985 under the name Brazilian Sleep Society , the institution all Brazilian professionals who study sleep, including since basic experimental areas , Biologists , Polysomnography Technicians , Physiotherapists , Speech therapists , Psychologists , Dentists and Doctors . The association is fundamentally from its multidisciplinary origin and the list of specialists who participate in society does not stop growing.
Over the years, society has adapted to the challenges and, since 2005, it has to be called Brazilian Sleep Association (ABS) . It also aggregates under the same roof and with direction co-sister societies are shared: Brazilian Association of Sleep Dentistry (ABROS) and Brazilian Association of Sleep Medicine (ABMS) , both created to meet needs specific to dentists and doctors.
THE ABS is recognized worldwide. The association promotes numerous activities, including courses, meetings with civil society and public policy managers, in addition to promoting constant dialogue with society on the most diverse themes related to sleep. THE Brazilian Sleep Association is also responsible for the scientific journal Sleep Science , a magazine published in English with worldwide recognition, receiving articles original scientific papers from all parts of the planet.

Interdisciplinary Committee
The Interdisciplinary Committee is composed of 09 (nine) Advice representing the following areas of health: Chronobiology , PE , Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy , Medicine , Dentistry , Experimental Research, Psychology and Sleep Assessment Technology . The Interdisciplinary Committee has the function of stimulating the dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge and the performance of multidisciplinary actions and activities throughout the country.
The Interdisciplinary Committee brings together representatives of the different specialties and professional areas working in sleep to promote and address specific issues arising from each area and also to encourage interaction between them, promoting dialogue, joint action and the interdisciplinarity of science and practice of sleep as an area of health care developed by different professionals.
Each committee of the Committee is formed by a representative, elected by the executive board of ABS , which invites and coordinates a team composed of up to 05 (five) members , who have an active role in the specific area of which the board is a part and are members of the ABS / ABMS / ABROS .
To compose the councils of Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and psychology certification is required in the area granted by ABS; to make up the Dentistry Council, certification is required in the area granted by the ABROS ; to be part of the Medical Council, the title conferred by ABS (certification made until 2011) or by AMB together with the society of its specialization (certification made from 2012) is required.
The councils are consultative in nature and are dedicated to specific guidelines of interest and relevance to the particular area they represent, in addition to responding to deliberations from the Board or even from another Council of the Interdisciplinary Committee. The councils of each area represented on the Committee are responsible for creating, developing and executing activities and materials that promote the dissemination and expansion of their representativeness, as well as their interdisciplinary developments.
The Interdisciplinary Committee does not have its own autonomy or deliberative action, it must follow the rules present in the ABS Statute, under the coordination of its Executive Board.
