Sleep Assessment Technology Council

Sleep Assessment Technology Council

It addresses topics related to instruments, methods and demands for application and interpretation involving the investigation of sleep and its disorders, particularly related to polysomnography, portable equipment for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, actmetry, in addition to applications, bracelets and mattress sensors, between others.

Purpose of the Sleep Assessment Technology Council

Develop content related to technology for assessing sleep and its disorders; clarify doubts and guide the general public and experts on the use and interpretation of data / results of each instrument / method of investigation of the pattern of the sleep-wake cycle; encourage and develop the training and updating of professionals involved and / or interested in the area, as well as the qualification of technicians / analysts in polysomnography.

The Sleep Assessment Technology Professional

The content addressing sleep technology is offered by some courses for the training of technicians and professionals graduated in different areas of health and with an interest in the study of the sleep-wake pattern, which include specific and short / medium / long duration courses, courses specific graduate programs and medical residencies in Sleep Medicine.

Certification in the area of Technology in Sleep Assessment

Since 2001, ABS has held annual tests for the qualification of Technicians in Polysomnography, with 319 certificates issued, to date, for professionals with technical training and graduates in several areas of health (including doctors). The test has theoretical-practical content about the methods / techniques for recording and analyzing sleep stages / associated events, in addition to questions about the pattern of normal sleep and the main sleep disorders.
